topic AMEX CLI: do they use FICO score on their site or do they use the most recent soft pull? in General Credit Topics

Hello, all!

I've read conflicting information about this and am very curious as to what othershave experienced. I opened my card on 3/1/15 and my CL went from 3500 to 10000 on 5/2/15.. I waited 180 days and requested 25K on 10/31 and got denied. I waited another 90 days and got denied for the 25K again on 1/30/16.

I then read somewhere on here that you no longer have to wait 90 days after a denial to re-request a CLI, so on 2/23, I requested again and got the 7-10 day message.. Received the denial letter in the mail a couple days ago and it referenced that on 2/17 my score was 696.. That's exactly what my score is on the AMEX site and 2/17 is the last date it refreshed.

I just finished paying the 2K balance i had on the card and my statement closes on 3/7. When should I re-request? And should I lower my request? Any tips you can send my way will be greatly appreciated - thanks!

The score on their site is the most recent soft pull.

I then read somewhere on here that you no longer have to wait 90 days after a denial to re-request a CLI

Either you misunderstood, or somebody didn't know what they were talking about.

Thanks alot for clarifying that for me! Makes sense! As far as having to wait for 90 days, why, then, was I allowed to request a CLI in, both, January and February? There was no mention in my denial letter about the time since my last denial.
