not worth destroying your credit over $31..... pay it and chalk it up to using a company called "payless" ;-)

I reserved a car through hotwire.com and used my amex to pay the bill (I've done this 100x before). Payless overcharged me by $31, to which I disputed successfully via Amex. Payless rental has now sent me a bill for the disputed amount and threatned collections treatment if not paid upon reciept of letter.

I'm trying to get ahold of Amex, because apparently in their agreement with Payless, they do not hold a clause that stops companies from billing Amex customers directly after a successful chargeback dispute.

I've contacted Payless and their stellar Customer Service could not care anyless. I wouldn't if I was paid their wage, either.

I'm ready to cancel all 3 Amex cards and 45k in CL over this.

You have a billing-related issue on a revolviing line of credit.

You can file a disptue with the creditor under the Fair Credit Billing Act, which has stringent dispute requirements.

Be sure to file within the FCBA time period.

Personally, I would pay the $31 and ensure nothing goes to collections. I understand the principle of not paying the charge, but it quickly becomes a losing proposition on the consumer end and costin you a ton more once all is said and done.

That being said, once I pay it I am going to blow up social media with my objective side of my story. Also, they no longer get my business.

The creditor is the credit card company that has billed you.

During an FCBA dispute, they cannot send to collections.

And I wouldn't close the Amex cards just for this incident. I think they did their part in crediting your account, now Payless don't do business with this type of company.
