It can vary from creditor to creditor. Since the statement balance is typically what is reported, by definition the reporting date can't be any earlier than the statement date. Sometimes this can be the same day, sometimes a few days up to a week later.

I'm trying to re-fi and paid off my cards hoping for a bump in my scores. I was shocked to learn that my TU score has not updated: I'm just using Credit Karma to see if the score updated in general (though I did also check Discover and that was woefully low, as well). Looks like Equifax has update, but not TU - don't know about Experian. Does anyone know how long I'd need to wait to see the score for TU update? I need a decent FICO 8 number for this re-fi and am feeling really defeated right now.

Your scores can only change once your report data changes, meaning that the updated balances need to report. This could happen anywhere from 1 day to 30 days from now, depending on when your creditor(s) typically report. Just look at your report and see the "last reported" date. If the creditor typically reports on the 17th of the month, for example, you'd expect to see the update on or about the 17th of the next month, +/- a day or two. Hopefully that helps.

I guess my theory failed and the reporting date doesn't coincide with statement date (at least, not for Transunion).

My TU updates the slowest by 5-7 days.

I always have the same card show a small balance every month of either $5 or $50 (changing each month) to force a monitoring alert. EQ and EX both updated within 2 or 3 days of my last statement posting (10/13) but TU didn't update until around the 20th or 21st. When the alert came, it showed an update of 10/15 tho.

TU is always the last to update for me, EX always first (the day after my statements cut), TU can take up to 5-6 days, EQ is somewhere in between. I also notice TU's "last reported date" pretty much matches the statement date on my various cards so the delay is on TU's end.
