For several years I never even bothered to check my CR or apply for any credit after being turned down so many times. When I decided to get my CR cleaned up and established several new TL's I have old collection accounts (I am talking about 17 year old accounts) coming out of the woodwork calling me and sending letters. Before I started cleaning up my CR I never heard from them. I know the SOL has run out a long time ago, but it is just the idea of being bothered by them all the time.

Also, since I have DV'd 3 CA's, they are starting to re-age the CA accounts and further damage my credit.

I am so discouraged at this point because with these CA re-aging my accounts it is doing so much damage to the good I have done so far

Message Edited by onmyway3161 on 07-16-2007 02:26 PM

Message Edited by onmyway3161 on 07-16-2007 02:27 PM

Message Edited by onmyway3161 on 07-16-2007 02:29 PM

Yeah - I had one closed account do that. Wasn't even on my CR a couple of years ago, but since I've raised my ficos and avg of 12 points - they are calling everyday. I sent then a PFD on 6/25 and now I think they are:MAD.

I don't think there is anything else I can do. I wish so much I would have never sent the DV letters. At least I would have had a chance of these coming off my reports in the next year or two. Now they have added 6 or 7 more years. This is just not right. All I did was ask for validation, nothing else. I feel like I am going back to square one.

Yes. I have had 2 of the 3 CA that I DV'd do this. What one CA did was they had previously a couple of years ago reported on my TU and EQ only. Now they reported on my EX as a new collection as of July but it is the same account that is 5 years old that they are reporting as a new collection. The other CA had already reported on the three CR and turned around after I DV'd and reported the same collection as a new collection and updated to this month. This is why I am so upset. And the thing is they haven't really validated. I ask that they prove that this is my bill, that they prove they are licensed in my state to collect, and that they prove they own the debt. All these two CA did was send me a copy of a hospital bill, nothing else.

I just went back through my credit reports that I had saved and copied and these two CA I have proof that they changed the reporting date. I have myfico reports from all three CR agencies from June 13th and they have different report dates than the CR I have now. So this shows that they did indeed update the report dates after I DV'd them.

My question is, where do I go from here?

One of which is used to determine both the SOL for being sued, and/or the length of time it can remain active on your credit report.

I would suggest that you call the CRA's and find out the DOFD/DOLP on these accounts. Now if these have been changed, then you have a legal issue here that you should pursue as far as you can afford.

REMEMBER, GET IT IN WRITING. Do not acknowledge anything with the CAs on the phone, and if you are in a one party state, record your calls. Even if not in a one party state, record your calls, you just have to warn them you are recording.

Noah, TNWM or Tuscani sound right to you?

Relax, the "Reported Date" is not the date used for aging an account. While it can have some effect on your score (by making it appear as if the collection is more recent) it should have no effect on the date the account will be deleted.
