How in the world can you file a dispute with Experian and company removes late payment, no dispute filed with trans Union same company removes late payment, file dispute with EQUIFAX won't remove? Ridiculous

When you file a dispute over a reported delinquency, the CRA refers the dispute to the creditor for their investigation and action.

The creditor can then determine that the reporting is accurate, and verify (i.e., no correction or deletion) with one or more CRAs, and voluntarily choose to delete the reporting with others. Deletion with one or more CRAs thus may not occur because the creditor agrees that it is inaccurate, but rather simply because they have voluntarily decided to cease its reporting with that CRA.

If deletion occurs as a result of a CRA finding that it cannot be verified, then they will issue a formal Notice of REsults of Reinvestigation providing that specific finding, and providing a revised credit report that shows that they (the CRA) has done the deletion.

If the creditor decides to voluntarily delete prior to conclusion of the reinvestigation, the CRA receives nothing and the dispute is terminated as moot based on the removal of the disputed information from the consumer's credit file.

Bottom line is that it can be proper for a dispute to result in deletion of the disputed information from only one or two, but not all three, CRAs.

Thanks. Dispute was filed with Experian and Equifax. Creditor responded to both, no late payment with Experian and late with Equifax. Trans Union they voluntarily sent that to update as no late. Doesn't make sense. Scared to call Citibank in fear they turn around and put back on other 2

How late were you? How often? Are you now current and in good standings with Citi? If yes to the last question, write to EO and explain this one a one time issue and won't happen again and ask for the late payment to be deleted.

Update: I emailed CO about noon on Friday, apparently they called at 2pm and left message on our home phone (we don't check that phone often). Lady stated "they received my letter and would have a resolution by no later than March 23rd. Said I could call if had any further questions." Not sure if good sign or not. Hopefully doesn't create more issues. Thanks!

K, I'm very confused. My Equifax went back up 50 points however the negative late payment still shows. Citibank updated record but shows in remarks "customer disputes after resolution". Went from 764 to 819. Can't figure out how score went back but negative still there. Could it be that it's not finished updating report?

This is a hypothesis i've been working on, so take it with a grain of salt.

I believe that there are 3 states for monthly reporting. On time, not reported, and late.

On time is good

Not reported is good

late is bad.

I believe though that the "not reported" is simply a blank field. A null if you will. And I believe that if a month previously had a "on time" or a "late" reported, the null does not always override the previous reporting properly.

So your score is calculated as having no lates, but whereever you are looking at the report still has the old information.

The same can happen the other direction. A late is rerecorded as "not reported", but the actual scoring is still low because the 30d information wasn't overwritten properly.

I had also sent letters to address on credit report for the company and now have received an email requesting us to call to get additional details "Additional information is required". After the first response not sure if we should call. Would it be a good idea to follow up on this letter? Thanks
