HP GONE after 1yr not two. "CapOne inquiry no longer listed on your credit report"

I got a credit alert from WalletHub this morning. I just checked it, TU Vantage3 score up 7 pts. Reason..."Capital One inquiry no longer listed on your credit report." I have the free version of TU reports, 5 inquiries in last year, updated it... 4 now, Capital One is not listed.

I know Vantage3 doesn't matter... but, from the actual free TU site... Capital One inquiry is gone. I applied for CapOne March 18, 2017. It was to fall off March 18, 2019. But March 19, 2018... inquiry removed from TU. CapOne also pulled EQ, I won't know if it's also removed from there till 3B updates tomorrow, 3/20/18.

Can this be a new rule, one not two years? Or is this something just CapOne is known to do?

Exclusion of inquries from credit reports is not covered under any statute or regulation.

It is purely and administrative decision/policy of the CRAs.

It is possible that the CRA deleted the inquiry, but that is not common policy on their part.

They have an obligation under the FCRA to provide a record of inquiries under certain conditions, and thus retain for two years.

My suspicion is that the inquiry was recoded from hard to soft, which results in removal of the inquiry from your credit report.

It may not be based on a deletion.......

I would call the CRA and request clarification of the reason.

Why do I imainge the following scenario if the OP calls:

You: Calls CRA. "Why did this HP disappear from my credit report after only 1 year?"

CRA: "Opps. We made a mistake. Let me fix that."

Score Change Notification: You have a new HP.

You: "Noooooooooo!"

Change in code by CapOne or CRAs? More likely CapOne since HP is no longer on EQ also? Both TU&EQ have many CapOne SPs since March 2017.

Call them? uummm... any chance of them putting HP back on reports?

Then pull your report from annualcreditreport.com, which also shows the soft pulls.

That will let you know if it was recoded........

Even if the HP was still on your credit report (or got put back on) it wouldn't impact your credit score, as it is > 1 year old now. The 7 point gain you saw would have happened regardless even if they HP wasn't removed.

I went through all entries listed on Equifax inquiries on my last two EQ reo=ports.

The CapOne HP is on my EQ report dated 3/15/18. Totally gone on the 3/20 report. There is nothing from CapOne before 3/28, a SP, followed by SPs every month or two since.

If only a couple more HPs would disappear.

I know HPs don't matter w/FICO after a year. I thought they stayed on Vantage3 the two years they are on credit reports. Thanks for clearing that up. The alert from WalletHub had both items 7pt+ & CapOne off report together, since I hadn't expected a Vantage3 score change, I thought it was related.

Cool to know Vantage3 will possibly go up again soon with next 1yr. V3 is quite a bit lower than FICO. For a while almost every gain I made with FICO hurt V3.
