Experian live person? UPDATED

Hi guys, i believe my Experian membership has been compromised as i cant sign in and it appears my USERNAME and password have changed. About a week or more ago i couldnt sign in and was told for security i had to change my password. It looked legit at time , i did so, got an email there was a change to my account but i dont recall changing my username. I tried logging in last night couldnt , asked to see my username , got a new one, tried with my newer pw but couldnt so was going to reset but the text to confirm had a new phone number ive never seen. Very concerned.

But i cant find any number that gets me to a live person . Its insanity that if someone takes your creditials you cant do anything about it until business hours. Alll the numbers i have tried give me the same stupid automated responses which none solve my problem. Any suggestions, thanks AJC.

Since this possibly could be fraud, call Experian’s Online Fraud and Identity Theft Guidance at 1-888-397-3742.

I hope you can get this straightened out ASAP and that no damage has happened.

About a week ago I got the same message that I had to change my password. it was kind of a pain since I was using fingerprints, but I went ahead and got a new password. I hadn't signed back in since and after reading your email I got concerned that we both may have been scammed somehow. I, however, just tried and I'm able to sign in successfully.

Thanks @CreditInspired . Yeah ive cslled that but no live person. Im going to wait til 9 or 10 my time to see what office is opened on Saturday. I read one opens at 8 to 5. I put snother fraud alert in Experian last night and it is Frozen at least, or should be. My other 2 are locked. Hopefully i can get everything reset . Will update as i go

Thank you @rbentley, yeah i thought it was weird too . Believe my forced pw update was on the 30th Jan from my email. When things like this happen i cant sleep well but at least i have some alerts in place. Im going to go through all accounts this weekend and update my security alerts/questions and passwords. I may even start trimming fat lol. Its 9:08 here so ill try real quick if not ill wait til my lunch break. If all else dails have to call on Monday

AJC ... fingers are crossed. We have to spend too much time dealing with the constant changes and it gets more than frustrating when you really need help and can't get it!!!

Yikes, ive tried 7 or 8 different numbers and cant get past the exact same auto system. I cant reset any pw if the number isnt my cell and i need to tell that to a human! Looks like i may have to wait to Monday but i just dont see anyway to contact a person. You say agent it just repeats question then hangs up.

Thanks. Yeah, unfortunately i cant reach anyone today. Cant get past the limited auto options. My only hope is that Monday their lines will open up and somehow i can get through but depressingly i see no hope of actually talking to anyone at Experian. This blows big time.

@AJC: it’s funny I recall being able to call Experian and get a live person a couple times. But just recently I’ve needed to call them and I’ve had the same experience as you. I cannot find a number that gets me a real person. I am following the thread And wishing you the best

Thanks Birdman7. Im doing what i can control. Just changing my pws and calling my creditors to see if anything extra can be done. Placed a fraud alert on my Synchrony files which means ill be auto rejected on any apps or cli requests until i get a call or paper verifying it was me.

Amex was great, made a note to my file. Why cant these bureaus be open 24/7, its cray cray . I guess with Dads health and this my stress level has been pretty high this week. Maybe i need to find a gf or wife who works at Experian

This is terrible Do think you need to notify all your credit cards also of the issue? Sounds like phishing . I hope this gets fixed

Also you could file a police report whether now or Monday.

@Anonymous, not sure yet. Still have to talk to Experian as thats where i cant sign in. I havent seen anything fishy on my accounts yet but just being proactive. Hopefully tomorrow ill know more.

Lol @ Credit_Aholic . That made me laugh which i needed. That might be the only credit card i could get for the forseeable future. Awesome work as always

I needed to talk to an actual live person a couple months ago, and what a royal pain. Experian's automated phone system is the absolute worst! It starts by demanding you enter your full social security #. I use my free Google Voice phone service for calls I know will take a long time so I don't burn up my cell minutes, and internet phone service is nice but completely unsecure so I didn't want to enter my SS# over it and tried zeros in hope it would hand me over to a live person; nope, hung up on me twice! So I finally relented and entered my SS#. Sorry, I forgot what I did to finally get a live person and it was during "normal" biz hours, and when I did he had no idea how to resolve my issue. I had EX IndentityWorks Plus service primarily for locking and unlocking EX. When EQ gave me free IDnotify service I could use that to lock/unlock EX so I canceled IDworks. Well, every month it kept unlocking my EX with a note "change in membership". Luckily I got notices from IDnotify and would log in and re-lock it, but after the 3rd time I said enough! The EX rep had no idea what was going on or how to fix it, but it seems it have stopped . . for now.

I absolutely loathe Experian. No matter what number i call, there is no help, no human reply. Same automated system with their we will be releasing our Ultra Fico blah blah blah. I truely feel for anyone dealing with fraud . Its insane that not one method gets human contact. Only option i have now is to write to experian and proove myself and hope i can get some kind of response. I used to like Ex but no more. You cant even contact Ex or Eq without a headache or some semblance of justice being done. Thanks for everyones well wishes.
