It depends on how lenders handle the replacement.

I had one once (local CU) that added an entire new account reporting to your CR if you got a new card from them. The account would contain the same number, reporting history, opened date, etc. just be duplicated.

My current oldest account appears 4-5 times on my CR because of this, which of course dramatically impacts my AAoA in a positive way. The downside is that I'll see a dramatic drop once these 4-5 accounts fall off one day.

Impact on AAoA upon lost card replacement?

Does replacing a lost card affect the AAoA in anyway?

I recently lost my uber visa card and the helpline didn't give a satisfactory answer. I'm curious if the replacement card is marked as a new account in credit reports or it'll still be marked as same account. I do know it'll be a new card number but it'll suck to have the account age drop to 0 for it.

Yes, you will get a new card number but IIRC your account history will remain the same. I recently asked Cap One to replace my card just cause i was abroad and rented a car and didn't want to receive further surprise charges and got a new card with new numbers (new account number) under the same history and everything else. They will just update your reported account.

I'm sure more experienced ficoers will chime in. Hope this helps...

It's essentially the same account. I've done it with no negative impact. On a separate note. I've also PC'd a BoA Cash Rewards from MC to Visa (different CC numbers) and kept the same history with no negative impact.

I had a credit union account on my CR twice and I disputed it because it was younger age than my AAOA and therefore had a negative impact. It was removed.

Their suspision was well founded as the charges were fraudulant. They cancelled the cards and re-issued them. It had absolutely no effect whatsoever on my credit score, and the new card showed on my credit report with the original cards issue date. The same was true when I PC'd a card.

Yes no doubt it should keep the same history even if the number changes because it’s the same account. If it didn’t I would call and complain.
