Random HP from PenFed

I got an alert that PenFed pulled my Equifax report. I haven’t applied for anything with them. My account is rather recent. I opened it around January. I don’t use it much.

Thoughts on why they would randomly pull my credit? If I call can/will they remove the inquiry?

I would call them regardless and ask why your file was accessed.

They said they never pulled it when I first joined for some reason. My account was restricted. I thought it was score related

So, more or less, a timing issue with the HP due to such restriction. Although a bit delayed, it seems like your CRA was not accessed upon becoming a member.

Yeah I checked the letter they sent when I first joined and it says no credit file for Equifax, which is strange. I must have overlooked that and assumed the restrictions were credit based. The good thing is Equifax is now my highest score and they lifted all of the restrictions.

Nope! I actually didn’t know they did a hard pull when you join at all (until I searched the forums). Just kind of annoying to have a fresh inquiry during the homebuying process.
