Santander changed reporting date on MC

If you have a Santander Bank credit card, and are the type of person who likes to micromanage utilization and account balances, watch out. My Mastercard always reported the statement balance; all of a sudden Santander reported the end of month balance instead.

I wonder if this is related to their recent issues regarding miscalculation of interest? Maybe it was a bigger issue than first reported...
