Kohls hard inquiry without my approval

I did click on CLI but I cancelled when I saw the message

I think I did that a couple of days ago.

If you agree to these terms and the above information is correct, click Submit

I just got an alert that Kohls did a hard inquiry on my Transunion. Sure they increased my CL but I did not authorize a hard inquiry.

Anyone else see this behavior?

I've been declined a CLI only to find an inquiry from them 2 days later along with an approval. Now I just keep my EX report locked when I request a CLI from them.

Yes but I hit cancel.

Customer Service Rep is saying account had a flag on it and they called me today at 3:22 to resolve the flag, spoke to me removed the flag and approved the CLI. None of that is true.

Now I am worried that someone maybe trying to takeover my account and putting a password on it.

Something is not adding up.

So are you saying you hit "submit" and then hit "cancel," or did you hit "cancel" when the HP language appeared without ever hitting "submit."

I hit cancel as soon as I saw the HP Language and never actually submitted the CLI Request.

I tried they said they can't do that but I can dispute with CRA which we know is fruitless.

I needed another inquiry like I need another hole in my head but at least I got a CLI.

I would still dispute it anyway, it's not really right for companies to get away with stuff like this and nobody will know it happened unless it gets reported.

IMHO, I would be very cautious about disputing. You dont want CRAs to add a fraud alert unless you can absolutely, without a doubt, prove you didn’t hit submit—like a screenshot, especially since they wont recode to SP.

You can also try and call again with the hope of getting another CSR.

Actually, I wouldn't give up all hope. This is a Comenity card, yes? Back early in my rebuild, I tried doing the "shopping cart trick" and wanted to get a card at a kids clothing store. I was denied, but was obviously hit with a hard pull. I called Comenity customer service and the girl on the phone was the sweetest thing ever and said I could actually write a letter requesting the hard inquiry to be removed. I actually still have the info in my notes on my phone and can provide you with the address she gave me to send the letter. She said it must be a hand written letter stating that you were given wrong info on how this would affect your credit.

I wish I could tell you I actually followed through with it, but sadly, I completely forgot. Doesn't hurt to try, though!

This is a good point, now thinking about it I'm guessing you didn't take a screenshot so you don't really have any "proof". I would call back and use the threat of a CRA dispute to perhaps escalate your issue to the right people to get it downgraded to a soft pull.

Kohl's is serviced by Capital One. It's one of their PLCCs.
