IM NEW TO ALL THIS BUT TODAY I RECIEVED MY FIRST CREDIT CARD FROM CITIBANK

WITH A CREDIT LIMIT OF 2500.00 ,

I WANT TO BUY A HOUISE WEN I HIT 25 YRS I AM NOW 20 WHAT CAN I DO TO GET A GOOD CREDIT SCORE, I DID NOT CHECK OUT MY SCORES YET

I JUST PULLED MYFICO SCORE WITH EQUIFAX MY FICO SCORE IS 785 WITH

NO ACCOUNTS OPENED

NO CLOSED ACCOUNTS

NO PUBLIC RECORDS

JUST ONE INQUIRY FROM CITIBANK

I DIDNT WANT TO GET CREDIT CARD CUASE MY PERANTS HAVE GOTTEN THEMSELF IN TROUBLE MANY TIMES WITH THEM

BUT I WAS TOLD I NEED SOME SORT OF CREDIT TO SHOW THAT I PAY ON TIME SO I APPLIED IT WHEN CITIBANK WAS AT MY CAMPUS, DIDNT EXPECTED TO GET ONE

SO SHOULD I APPLY FOR MORE CARDS TO GET BETTER USAGE OF CREDIT?

Huh? 785 is above the best 760+. You can buy a house right now? It takes years to get a score that high unless someone really knows how to add extra slices to the pizza pie. Never seen it with 1 account brand new. Probably a typo. I would get 2 or 3 more cards. It will build credit trade lines faster. Congrats on your first card!

You have an EQ FICO score of 785 with no accounts open? ZERO accounts? When did you apply for this CITI card. Figures they pulled EQ, they seem to do that a lot. Also, which card did you get?

Wish i could by a house, but i am in college now need 2 more years for my degree,

all money that i make is paying my tuition, yes no student loans to pay

i work for a construction company make good money , i do great finish carpentry

And i will by a house a fixeruper to save money fix it myself

i seen my perants go thru rough times, paying bills after bills, i learned from there mistakes

i do not know how i got that score it is my first credit card, i jst used it for myfico, i will put it away

maybe in my uderwear drawer or under my matress

or maybe use it for a great night out.

citi plat select for college students

applied back in june

do not know how or why i got that score

beginers luck i guess

but i do not want to get in trouble like my perants in dept ( now they do not own cc anymore they paid all they worked hard to pay) they always told me paying intrest is a waste of money

they tell me buy a 2 family house, were rent helps pay half the morgate at the begining, then after 10 years it will pay it all, do it young

It's refreshing to see young folks such as yourself taking an interest in personal finance and learning to use credit responsibly. Tell your college friends to come here, we would love to help them out especially with student loan questions and responsible CC usage. Maybe I can share a war story or two about my college days at UT (university of Texas). GL to you!

I go to city college in nyc

I lot of the students get student loans and there perants pay there tuition

then they blow it

they dont know they have to pay it back

i do not understand them

im no prude i like to have fun but i do within my means

cuase im not ganna pay intrest on a trip to florida for the next ten years

Thats a great start! Congrats! and welcome!

I remember i fell for those free stuff from citi if i applied for their card on campus few years ago. But i didn't know jack about credit until I was in too much trouble. I just got myself out of it last august and now trying to build it back up. This forum and knowledgeable helpful people will give your some really useful information to stay on top of your credit.

Keep this in your head and you'll be fine: 1-9, on time, all the time

I'd wait 6-9 months or so and apply for another, this way you would have established payment history on the citibank card and it won't be reporting as new. It would help you get better interest rates on other cards I think.

I admire your sense of responsibility, cause when I got my first CC, I think it was a Citibank Universal Card, in college, I headed straight to the mall and it only went downhill from there. I think you'll be fine if you remember the 1-9 principle.

What was the web site where you bought your Equifax Fico score? Was it Equifax.com or www.MyFico.com, or another place that sold you your Equifax Fico score? Different places have different scoring models. Such as a PFico model, ect. Thanks, just wondering.
