Since burning USAA back in 2009 I left them as my insurance carrier and started to use Hartford and then Progressive. I started to use Credit Karma back in 2016 when I thought I started to get serious about rebuilding my credit before I found myFICO.

CK shows your insurance score reported by TransUnion. It has been consistently reporting my score as 795 for as long as I can remember. Last week, I dropped progressive and went back to USAA. I was able to save about $450 a year with USAA auto and renters insurance over what I was paying Progressive. I also cleared up my past charge-off with USAA which fell off my CR a few years ago with just a phone call.

Today I was poking around CK and looked at my insurance score reported by TransUnion and it was 805. I received a 10 point bump after going with USAA from Progressive. If anything, I would have expected a drop (which is why I looked) for having changed insurance carriers. I am curious as to anyone's insight as to why this might have occurred.

CBIS is not carrier based, so switch has nothing to do with it. It's sensitive to inq, new accounts and presence of score cards.

It increases as time from last pull and last new account increases. Your score increase is very likely related to aging.

Here is the link for more detailed discussion

Good job, btw
