Best and worst Credit Card site/app?

Had curiosity about your impressions from websites/apps from the credit cards on your wallets. Which one do you think is the best/clearer/useful? And also the website or app that gives you nightmares about managing your cards. In my case, I am pretty divided over the one I like the most, but I would say Amex (Even though I just got it)or the Best Buy credit card site. The one that gives me nightmares is definitely the PNC one, that thing looks as it is stuck in 2005.

I like the Amex website the most by a wide margin.

Citi and Discover next. Then maybe Barclays.

Chase has great rewards, protections, and customer service...but the website is still pretty primitive and lacks most transaction search/organization tools.

Haven't used Cap1 enough to judge.

Question: Does the Virgin Atlantic BofA card have the same transaction search tools as the Cash/Travel/Premium rewards cards? At some point I may bonus chase the Virgin Atlantic card as a trial of going the Preferred Rewards route some day.

The Discover site I do not know, I mean, it is easy to get and all, but it is just to boring for me, mostly the app as it looks almost as a newspaper. Have not tried Barclays yet.

Regarding this question, a lot of my friends have cards with Bank of America (Mostly because their parents bank with them and so on) But no idea, I suppose it does, but I cannot confirm it, as most of my friends do not even know how to pay it. Had tried to get the card twice, and twice rejected by Bofa, added the fact that they bank with half of my family and their story, I have an almost hate for them .

Best app award goes to Amex for sure with MySynchrony next (you can even request CLIs from the app) followed closely by Capital One.

If Disco was a bit cleaner, their app would win because it has the most features but it’s a cluttered mess IMO.

I love the Apple Card’s interface in Wallet and it would be number one if it was actually a dedicated app.

The best website goes to Disco for me. I find Amex to be cumbersome to navigate.

I like Capital One the best. Site and app. Worse is Rakuten/Synchrony site. No app. They have a bug when you’re on mobile, the chat bar appears right in the middle of the screen.

Good:

Citi - specifically, the app, is very slick with good features

Cap 1 - the web site is pretty good, the app is better

Discover - both site and app are solid

OK:

Amex - the app is good, the web site has good features but can be cumbersome to navigate

Amazon/Sync - good features but not the same level of design quality as the ones above it on this list

Bad:

Primor Green Dot ... though I feel like it's not a fair comparison with the others I listed. Barely functional, looks like it was designed in 1995, though it does work

My Jewelers Club - really probably not a fair comparison at all, but very few features or functions

Best for me would probably be the AMEX website/app. I love how on the app you can use messages to contact AMEX and not have to call or use website interface.

Worst is probably a tie between US Bank and CNB. App for former is clunky to say the least and for latter the website is so troublesome because of how many hoops you have to jump through to get to where you want.

Best - any app/site that makes info easy to see and the bill easy to pay (Amex/Barclays/Discover)

Worst - US Bank, PayPal/Synch, Target RC

My worst is the Citi site for the LL Bean Mastercard. It doesn't show pending transactions and doesn't offer rewards information on a per-transaction basis. There's no app. Without pending transactions and an app, there are no notifications when transactions occur. Topping it off is the fact that I haven't been able to log in for over two weeks. I haven't seen my August 5th statement yet.

Capital One and AMEX are both good. I haven't found anything that's gotten in my way. Chase is sufficient, although setting up notifications is goofy. You have to set them up on the website in order for the app to generate them.

I missed some stuff.

AMEX's chat is a mess, particularly because it doesn't save anything. However, I'm seeing that alternative chat options are available, including Apple's. I haven't checked that out yet.

Chase doesn't offer chat at all. Nor does Citi. I haven't tried chat with Capital One.

I would have to agree with @HeavenOhio - My worst is also the Citi L.L. Bean Mastercard site. I have not had an issue with statements (yet), but the no pending transactions being shown, no rewards info per transaction, and the only notifications for transactions being for transactions without card and out of country transactions is a real issue. At least when Barclay had it you could get notifications when the transaction posted. Unless the card is not used or it is out of country, htere is no notification.

Kohl's card is very basic and I don't think has noitifications either.

Not sure how PNC credit card site is, but the Debit Card portion which is the same site the credit card uses, is great. I get notifications for every debit card transaction and I like the way it is laid out.

Amex has to be the winner though by far, with only 2 gripes:

- Purchase notification can not be set for less than $10 - Fraudsters usually start with $1 or $2 charges to test the water

- They removed the categories for each transaction so you now have to pick categories and see what filters. This makes it a little tougher to track rewards and spending. If you preview the new version on the Statements and Activity tab, you can see the items that are in the spend categories that get more than 1%, but it takes a while to update and the piece that shows it for past statements doesn't work.

Curious to see if anyone chimes in on the site for Citizens Bank Cash Back Plus card...

@HeavenOhio - That is a pain that you can't save the chat sessions directly, but what you can do, is use your mouse to highlight the text from the chat and save it to a text file using Notepad or some other editor. Also if you miss copying before the window closes, if you start chat again, previous conversations are still there.

You can set alerts for less than $10. A normal small purchase for me is less than $4 at 7-Eleven and I get notified. I also get notified for $1 at places with holds like certain gas stations and my car wash.

Koh's Charge is by far the worst. I develop websites for a living so I know bad UI. You can't even log in most of the time and it doesn't show pending payments. It's the only card that I have on autopay for this reason. At least they are starting to integrate it into the Kohl's app.

My very limited card base opinions...

Best: Chase app, with American Express a close second. Both are simple, intuitive to find what I'm looking for, and I can do basically anything I need to do with my cards and get any information I need within a few taps on either one. Only rarely do I log in to their websites anymore, and that's usually just because I don't feel like grabbing my phone or I'm looking at an annual statement.

Worst: DCU. It's not really a major bank, and it's meant to do things besides credit cards, but the app feels like it was written 5 years ago and never updated. I can do what I need to do (barely), but that isn't saying much since I don't do much with them. Anything beyond simple checking balances or reading messages usually just fires you off into their regular site through the app.

I agree that the DCU app is bad. They sent an email recently that they’re updating the website, so I’m hoping the app follows next. I also think the PayPal/Synch combo is god awful. I hate having to log into one and transferring to the other, and Synchrony is primitive at best.

I’m happy with all my other cards. Just started using Amex and it looks pretty good. Discover, Citi, & Capital One are all great too.

best by far is the jpmorgan site, it would be impossible to make anything more clean than this. I don't get folks digging the ax site, how can you like a site that does not give a running balance? a running bal is the only thing the jmp site shows without drilling down
