BofA- late payment removal?

Hi there! I’m taking care of my aunt and uncle’s finances and inadvertently paid his BofA CC 30 days late. He has had the account for 38 years and never been late. I was new to handling his their finances and he had went to the hospital. I was just overwhelmed with my duties for them. I’ve since signed him up for auto pay so the issue won’t happen again. Any chance they’ll remove the late?

OCs aren't known for adjustments very often but if he's had an account that long that's always been managed correctly, they may do it given the extenuating circumstances. Definitely worth trying.

I don't know about the creditor but sometimes it's worth just telling the full story to whomever you speak with and if you don't get anywhere, request a supervisor who likely has the authority to make that decision.

I would mention everything you noted above, he's a 101yr old WW2 vet in the hospital and you were trying to handle his acct during that period and you made a mistake but have since set up auto pay on his behalf. Let them know you could provide proof of him in the hospital. Seriously I'd take all the blame and plead the case on behalf of him. It won't hurt you but could help him. If that doesn't work I'd find a physical address and express the same with copy of the hospital paperwork and plead that they take that into consideration. I would continue that line, same as a goodwill campaign until you hopefully get a positive result. Good luck!

Definitely call and explain the situation. And if you don't get any one who can empathize, call back and ask to speak to a supervisor and be ever so polite and remorseful. Hopefully, you'll find someone who can make something positive happen.

Hi! Yep it worked the 30 day late was removed. My aunts credit shot up 50 points by this. I’m still waiting to see how this helps my uncle. They also added me as AU, so once / if the increase hits my file too, I’ll let you know if I see an increase.
