Unexpected EX alert

So, I got a push notification from EX informing me there has been a change in financial activity.

I thought they meant payment, and I'm trying to wean myself from staring at the stupid three digits, so I ignored it.

Then email came, and it said

Financial Account Activity - Bank Account Change

Mar 22, 2020

I made a payment on Citi card using US Bank checking. That was my first non-Chase payment on any account.

In all this time, it never occurred to me that lenders are providing that information. I really thought only payment was reported, without the source.

I'm not in tinfoil hat territory yet, but that made me queasy.

Not surprised as I have received alerts from Experian in the past notifying me even when I’ve opened a new bank account. My Transunion full report from Annual Free Report actually has a section at the very end indicating what outside “sources” they have collected information from to provide information to their clients. I was shocked to see Chexsystem was listed with complete information on how many bank accounts opened, how many closed and other pertinent information. Apparently it was provided to subprime loan providers hoping to entice me to accept preapproved payday type loans. I think there’ s a lot more information sharing going on than we realize.

I got an alert when I opened US Bank checking.

I just did not expect to see payment source reported.

I guess I should look over annual report past the accounts 😐

With all of the credit fraud going on. They are tracking everything these days. They even know how much lint and spare phone batteries you have in that purse.

I've recieved the same alerts.

I got like 100% utilization on batteries.

I dont know that many people walking around with two anker powercore batteries 😂

I have 4 differnt accounts that I pay my various CC's with. Though for simplicity I keep Chase in house ever since i opened a checking account with them last year.

But I don't think I've ever seen that notification.

Ok maybe I'm naive but I do find that surprising. I don't recall getting such an alert when I started paying with my DCU account. Good to know I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's probably lender specific, optional field. Way to alert the media, Citi!

USAA did this to me a couple of months ago when I opened another checking account with them. It reported to Experian as well.

This wasn't opening a new account. I simply added a different checking account to Citi, and somehow that got reported.

It's not a new account.

They seem to even pick up on any changes. Jan 16th and April 1st I made similar changes and they reported it.

In my experience it seems to be either a change to existing or new.
