I believe the law firm is acting on behalf of LVNV, but regardless, LVNV now does PFD on their own without one having to ask (see their FAQ section), so you should be good to go!

Hello, All and thank you in advance for any advice. In the process of cleaning up credit. Recently had a process server seeking me out over a CreditOne debt I had not yet resolved. It was in the hands of LVNV/Resurgent and is still listed on all 3 credit reports as being their debt. However, it is now being handled by Machol & Johannes law firm who tried to serve the papers. I checked the LVNV/Resurgent website and that debt is no longer listed. I called M&J and asked if I could make PTD arrangments and was told I would have to contact LVNV. Any letter I can draw up or anything I can do to encourage them to work with me on a PTD? I have not yet made any comittments with them.
