It was 39 months and when he returned it, the miles were over and left them with a 4K dollar balance. It never got paid. Problem is we’re now trying to buy a house and it’s holding things up. It’s not listed as a collection or a charge off. According to TransUnion credit report it is due to fall off 2/27. How are they able to keep it on her credit reports? She used Lexington law to dispute it but no changes. Any recommendations?

If she leased it with him, using either her or both of their credit then that is the reason it is on her credit report. It would appear this debt was not addressed or addressed appropriately in the divorce. They don't care who drives it, it's the name(s) on the paperwork. Lexington Law or any credit repair company can't do anything you can't do.

If the fall off date is 02/2027, that's a long time away and seems to be a recent default? If it's in collections she could request a pay for delete. If the date is actually 2/27/2021 then she can begin a Goodwill campaign or request early removal (search Goodwill on the forum). TU has been known to remove items up to 6 months before it is scheduled to fall off.

Hopefully someone else will chime in but that's a tough one since it appears she signed paperwork which would make her just as responsible. Good Luck.

Early Exclusion:
~7 year mark is the DoFD exclusion date. You can request for EE Early Exclusion on your derogatory / delinquency from:

TransUnion - 6 months early.
Experian - 3 months early.
Equifax - 1 month early. I would not recommend requesting EE. Let derogatory / delinquency fall off naturally.

Call up TransUnion . Front line csr may be able to assist. If not, request to speak with a supervisor to have the delinquency / derogatory removed. You may not see a score improvement until the last late is removed. However, since EE request is a simple process might as well take advantage of it.
