Here guys,

I believe this is a full deletion. Just wanted to check with you before I sent the payment. I am so excited. This is the first PFD I have heard back on.

Upon receipt and clearance of $130.38, this account will be paid in full, and as per your specific request, and to the extent possible, RJM Acquisitions LLC will REQUEST OUR REPORTING OF THIS ACCOUNT TO BE DELETED FROM YOUR CREDIT REPORT.

Whoo Hoo!!! My only question is the language TO THE EXTENT POSSIBLE, should I call them or just send a check with a restricitve endorsement?

I would protect myself. It sounds like they are saying that if they are able to, they will do their best to get this deleted from you. I would have them reword that notation to say :

Upon receipt and clearance of $130.38, this account will be paid in full, and RJM Acquisitions LLC will REQUEST OUR REPORTING OF THIS ACCOUNT TO BE DELETED FROM ALL 3 OF THE MAJOR CREDIT REPORTING BUREAUS (i.e., Transunion, Equifax and Experian).

Upon receipt and clearance of $130.38, this account will be paid in full, and as per your specific request, and to the extent possible, RJM Acquisitions LLC will REQUEST OUR REPORTING OF THIS ACCOUNT TO BE DELETED FROM YOUR CREDIT REPORT.

This wording covers them for when they say that you asked them to do something illegal and that they can't delete the account because it would take the original creditor to do that. Read that statement so many times in the past couple of weeks where the CA says that by law they can't. Their extent possible is too vague, and they are requesting reporting of the account be deleted from who? They need to be specific as the sample PFD letter states.

"To the extent possible." I wouldn't pay! Have them rewrite their agreement without the ambiguousness.

I'd send 'em a response of a written PFD agreement and a cover letter. Keep the cover letter simple.

Thank you for your letter of July XX, 2007. Obviously we both wish to settle this debt. Please sign and return the enclosed agreement, and upon receipt I will sign it and return the original signed agreement along with payment in certified funds within ten (10) days.

RJM Acquisitions LLC and <original creditor> agree to delete any and all adverse reporting to any credit reporting bureau--including but not limited to Equifax, Experian and TransUnion--to which this debt has ever been reported.

When you put something in someone's hand to sign, they feel stupid to hand it back. This is a psychological trick employed by drug dealers as well as many purveyors of legal products. While I have no personal sales experience in this area, over the years I have acquired many low friends in low places with checkered pasts.

I have never sent a PFD but I would not not accept the wording that they have. I would reword it & make them accept your wording.

Who are these people to begin with? I have seen soft pulls on my husband's report. Sometimes 2-3 per month. Never any communication from them though.

Worth a try, although there's no guarantee that OC will delete. RJM can always claim (and rightfully so) that it can't compel OC to do anything, even if it "represents" OC.

They are junk debt buyers. I don't even believe I owe them any money as the company they bought the debt from is a book club. "The Literary Guild". I bought books from them more than seven years ago and to my best knowledge I paid them the $130.00. I just cannot find the cancelled check and I do not bank at BofA any more. I disputed this with TU and they deleted it, It is not on EQ, I am just trying to get it off of EX.

I had RJM as a collection account on my CR. I called them and asked if they could mail a bill to me (this is before I started coming to these boards). I never asked for deletion. I paid the bill and it disappeared from my CR. I thought it would have been updated to "payment after collection), but it's completely gone.
