Collections Just disappeared

I had a collection on my credit report for a certain phone company (Sprint) who sold it to Diversified Adjustment Services. I cancelled my phones due to my payments where never getting posted to my account and they kept charging me. I paid off "What I owed" but they say i owed more. So i refused to pay for what I don't owe. I owned up to the debt but refused to pay for what they added on to my account. After about a year, they begin to delete the Collections from my report. What does this mean , they can afford to keep reporting it, they sold it again, or what.

I dunno but i had one dissapear one month just to reappear the next month

I have read somewhere on this very forum about someone else whose Sprint collection also mysteriously disappeared. So, I guess it has been known to happen.

Hopefully, it'll stay gone.

Yup mines did it a couple of weeks ago? The the week before it happened I got a letter from a new/different collection agency wanting payment. So I sent them a PFD letter and haven't heard from them since...
