Changing Due Dates

I was wondering how long it usually takes for a change of due date to go into effect.

For those who have changed their due dates what card was it and how long did it take for it to go into effect.

With the recent change with my Cap1 which makes my statement cut on an average date of the 12th I am going to change my due date to approx. 3 days earlier that way it will cut around the 9th which I have grown accustom to for the past couple of years.

@Iusedtolurk I'm in the same boat at the moment. I too have a card that I requested to change the due date on.

Customer service told me that the change would be reflected in one to two billing cycles. Pressing for a bit more detail, I asked her when my next due date was scheduled. She replied that my next due date was ~ 2 months out, in line with the requested change.

It's my Capital One Savor One, btw. Changing the due date from the 3rd to the 28th.

I have never changed a due date but I am following this for more info since ive considered it at times

I recently changed due dates at USAA, Discover, and Amex. I believe they all "extended" a cycle, so it took (or is taking, rather) a couple months to show. Like my most recent billing cycle on a card is something like Oct 20 - Dec 12.

Worth noting if this matters to you: this caused delays in reporting to credit bureaus, as these cards typically reported around statement closing dates; I was seeing no updates in November for these cards.

I was able to request mid-cycle reports with Discover and Amex. No dice with USAA though

OP:

It takes two cycles. I changed the dates as permitted (eg, from Cap One, Disco and TD) to tranche them into a pattern I can manage better.

All by the 2nd statement.

Most took the 2 statements, did not happen first month.

* Note some CU's and Banks have statements cut at end of month and will not move or change statement date. I found moving the movable dates to the 25th or 26th. This having only a few days between all my cards statements. I pay all cards on the 20th every month. Makes life simple.
