Frozen AU card still build credit?

Hi people,

If I freeze a card (Amex Gold) indefinitely, will the AU still reap the benefits/score building that comes with being an AU?

By freeze, do you just mean putting it in the sock drawer and not using, or something else?

The card will still remain on your ( and AU's ) reports even if it is idle.

The card will still report as usual but you cant use it. Usually people do this when they cant find their card until they find it between their car seats.

I think your question has already been answered by the other posters.

I did want to add, Amex AUs do not inherit the payment history or age of the card. It essentially reports as a new account, which is going to negatively effect credit age. Amex Gold is, I believe, a charge card so it won't do much to offset utilization either since it has no limit. I would strongly suggest considering a different card for the AU to receive the most benefit from.
