That's good news for consumers and credit hobbyists. Thanks!

One related point I haven't seen mentioned on here: Equifax changed the way they do authentication and it seems to have fixed the problem many of us were having with getting our EQ reports from annualcreditreport.com.

They used to use the old fashioned multiple choice questions like "which of these lenders issued your most recent auto loan?" Something must have been broken with their implementation of that system because many people, including me, could never pass the test.

I went on ACR last month and EQ used more modern two-factor authentication. They texted me a one-time code number. It worked smoothly and I got my first EQ report from ACR ever!

TU also made the switch to 2FA on ACR, but I think the old way worked fine for them so no big deal. EX still uses the multiple choice questions there.

I was worried about identity theft for a while, because Equifax kept rejecting me even though I knew all my answers were correct. I was eventually able to get my report and it was clean, but it's good to know I wasn't the only one, and that they've fixed it.
