PFD Success with a BONUS!!!!!!!

First of all I would like to thank all of you that have replied to my posts! I would like to thank my manager, my co-workers and my parents! I couldnt have done it without you all!! I love you all!!!

SORRY! I felt like I just won an Academy Award!!

I sent out a PFD letter to the OC (hospital) about a collection on my CRs. It was for almost $1000. I used one of the samples that I found on here and modified it so it wouldn't sound so plagerized. I offered to pay 50 percent of the total amount if the would delete it from my record. Well it must have been a good letter because they deleted it and I didnt have to pay anything!!!!!!!!!!!!! When does that ever happen??? The stars and planets must have been in perfect alignment!! Maybe PFD didnt mean Pay for Deletion in this case... how about Plead for deletion??

But seriously.... thank you all for the fantastic ideas and great advice! This Forum totally ROCKS!!

watch your mail. They might answer your letter & decline or accept your offer. They might have deleted it & sent it to a CA. So watch your CR also.

What is your SOL and what was DOFD on bill?

My DOFD was Jan. 2001. What do you mean about statute of limitations?

If you are not past SOL they can file a lawsuit. It will drop from CR in Jan 2008

Like the others said - don't get too excited just yet. You will still need to keep a close watch on your CR and your mailbox.

On the plus side, they may have deleted the entry in the credit report because they couldn't find your past due account in their system. Sometimes this can happen if a company converts their billing system and accounts fall through the cracks. If they can't find the original documentation that you owe this, then they sent a request to the CRA to delete the entry because they can no longer verify it.

On the minus side, they may have sold your account to a CA and you'll probably start hearing from them instead.

In all honesty, if they deleted the entry instead of sending you a letter agreeing to your terms, I would bet that they lost your account and they can no longer verify that you still owe the debt. (If it was a PFD, they wouldn't delete the entry until they receive your money)

Even so, I would still watch my CR and mailbox just in case.....
