I have been lurking around this site for awhile and have learned a great deal of things from many of the credit guru's here, so first, thank-you for all the assistance you provide to others! My scores have gone up over 50 points in just a couple months from all the things I have learned here. I opted out, fixed all my incorrect personal information and disputed things on my reports (of which some dropped off due to incorrect or dates to fall-off coming up in a few months)

Now, this is my delimma. I have 4 medical collection accounts on my reports from one company that purchased them from the hospital. They range from 2002-2006. The hospital sold the accounts for a small cost, this I know due to acquintance working in their billing office. The CA has attempted twice to call me on my cell phone, no other contact, and only left a generic voice message. I know I should owe about 8 other bills to them from same hospital, however they are not showing on my CR.

Do I DV them or PFD them? I know they bought them, I know I owe it, which would be the best route to go? If I do either, do I need to include something like "any and all accounts that are held in your office" or just reference what is listed on my CR.

I live in Ohio and I am unsure about the SOL, because I am not sure if medical qualifies, very unclear on the whole SOL.

fused, most hospitals do not report. They wait & then turn them over to a CA and the CA reports. Some hospitals keep all records they do not turn them over to a CA.

In my opinion it is correct to DV any CA. You can not trust them. Many accounts have already been paid by ins. after the hospital turned them over to CA. The CA will not know this & neither will the person. CAs have also been know to add fees to the account.

Everyone has the right to know that what the CA is reporting is correct and it does belong to them.

You can also call the hosp. and ask for info. be sent to you.

If people do not pay hospital bills then the tax payers are paying them. So most states have no SOL on them

Other medical bills are different. you are paying for a service & that falls under SOL.

Several years ago I had a CA call me about a hosp. and medical bills. They were not mine. They were in a different state then I was in. It just happened that I had been a patent at this hosp. 10 years before.

It turned out that someone mixed up the SS# and I was billed and turned over to collections. I almost had to file a lawsuit to get it removed from CR.

Your story and what the OP has posted are entirely different. They said the debt is theirs. I do work in healthcare and I am well aware of how hospitals and providers handle bad accounts. First things first, there are big differences on how these accounts are assigned, sold and etc. Not all providers and hospitals do it the same way.

The point here is the OP wants to pay his debt and have the baddies removed. He says it's his debt, and I applaud them for wanting to take responsibility. I am see too many people pushing newbies to DV as a way to avoid paying a legitimate debt. I.E. unethical credit repair!

Lastly, I fully understand that a medical condition can ruin a person's financial picture in a heartbeat, it happens and it's very unfortunate. But I'm growing tired of hearing ways on how to get away with not paying medical bills, sort of like...these guys are rich already, they don't need any more money. Pay the doctors and hospitals they work hard to care for us!
