Hi Tree, I had the same problem in Idaho. When I filed the disputes, I was very clear about the release date and sent the State document with dispute. I also sent the phone number of the State department and it was changed almost immediately. Good Luck.

Tax Lien on Credit Report

The Texas Workforce Commission filed a tax lien filed against me (my sole proprietorship) but it was paid off and released on 10/07/02. However, the lien release document did not get filed with the local county courthouse back in 2002 and therefore the lien is shown as open on my Experian and TransUnion credit reports. This original document is lost. I ordered a new lien release document from the TWC and filed it with the courthouse but the courthouse is showing the lien release date as 8/22/07. Whenever you order a new lien release document, it shows the release date as the date it was last mailed out and not as the original date when the lien was paid off.

I did manage to get a copy from the TWC showing the original 10/07/02 release date but the courthouse would not except this copy for official recording. I did recently file a dispute with the above mentioned credit bureaus and sent them the copy showing the 10/07/02 release date. I am concerned that they will investigate this with the courthouse and show the lien release date as 8/22/07. If this happens, what is the best strategy for trying to get the correct release date of 10/07/02 shown on my credit reports? I obviously want the earlier date showing on my credit reports so it will be removed sooner after the seven year waiting period.
