JuliaPR,

A CA, particularly Resurgent, is going to ignore you. Don't contact the CA any further. In fact, you need to DV the CA right away.

Did you file a police report? If not, do it.

Send a copy of the police report to the CRAs and tell 'em this account is not yours. Send your letter CMRRR, and include a copy of your Driver's License and SSN card. Normally with the CRAs, I recommend making nice. But with ID theft, you need to use a bigger hammer with the CRAs.

I don't know if I'm allowed to ask this here, but I want to write a letter to the collection agency (Resurgent Capital aka LVNV Funding) to demand them to close and delete a credit account that was fraudulently opened by a relative who used my personal info without my permission. I sent an id affidavit via certified mail and they got it. They (the agency) said via telephone, they will mail and fax me a letter, but what if they don't?

Thanks guys for all your help. I did steps # 1, 2, and 3, and they actually faxed a letter to me stating due to the results of their investigation, the account will be closed, and they will contact all 3 CRA. I made copies of the letter, and sent them to all the CRA's via certified mail just in case. I'll wait the two weeks and if nothing is done, I'll do step 4. I'm not giving up.
