Hi all, Thanks to all for the helpful advice on here, I've read and learnt a great deal. I have an issue that is a little unique that I'm hoping someone might be able to offer advice. 3 years ago I moved overseas, and have only just moved back. I thought I left everything in good order. I do have a couple of 30 day CC payments simply because it took a little longer than expected to transfer money back to the US. It's all good now and balances are $0. What bothers me is I have 'loss as reported by credit giver'. I had a cell phone contract that expired 3 months after I left, which I thought I payed out. Obviously I had no contact details valid to be notified of this deliquency, so its been on my record since June 2005. Of course, I will check to make sure if it is a real debt, but if it is real debt what's the best action to take? The debt is only $77 and I'll pay if its real, but is a pay-to-delete letter the best to do in this situation? Can something this severe be removed from my report or will it hang around? Current scores are 640-660, and I'd like to be in a good position to buy a house in 12 months or so. Thanks in advance for your help

Send a DV (debt validation letter) and if they validate try a PFD.

I sent off a PFD, and have received a letter back from Verizon Wireless. Basically it says "please call us to discuss your concerns" without mentioning any of the details in the PFD letter.

I read posts here where people stay NEVER talk to CA's, yet others have had great success over the phone. Should I call these people or not?

Thanks in advance

I never sent a DV letter, the first thing I sent was a PFD. I'm certain the debt is real, and for $77 I was quite happy to pay it off. I just wasn't expecting this reply from them.

Should I send a DV letter, even though I expect it to come back verified? Or resend in another PFD?

Thanks in advance
