The seven year old parking ticket

I paid off all my collection accounts in 02-03 I've had no "new" negative entries on my credit report since then. 4 - 5 years later I get my Nov 07 quarterly credit report and I have two new collections. I called the collection agency and they told me it was for two parking tickets from 7-2000 and 5-2001. I used to loan my car out so it's possible that my car was involved.

Here are my questions....

To anyone with experience in this situation, does this sound feasible?

I've already contacted the credit bureau with a not mine dispute.

Should I pay these collections?

Your best route would be to send out PFDs. Small balance, you may get lucky with getting it deleted. Or you can just wait it out. It's going to drop off next year anyway. It shouldn't be affecting your scoring.

I would not do a PFD I would do a DV letter instead and wait for the results. If it is not yours and they can not provide a signature then they cant collect. They have to prove it was for you. Did you go to court or get a ticket in the mail I would be very careful and send the DV let first. Dont jump the gun cause you cant fix it later and they can mark it as Paid Collection and you never want to admit to a ticket without going to court if you were not the one at fault.

That would work too. Only reason I mentioned a PFD is I had a parking ticket on my report and that's what I did. $20...seriously. I was like, "whatever, I'm just going to pay it, I don't care" and sure enough, they took it off. No blip on my report.

Let me give more information from report....

Collection Agency: Professional Account MGM

Original Creditor: DC Govt

CA put this on my report 08/2007

CA told me that the parking tickets were issued 07/2000 & 05/2001

TransUnion says: Estimated date that this item will be removed 07/2014

I know "I" didn't get the parking tickets (I can't prove it) but I've never herd of signing a parking ticket so they can't verify that it was me either.

I'm just worried about if I pay or don't pay them item won't be removed until 07/2014

DV - do you really think DC has a copy of the ticket at this point (I live in Maryland (DC Metro)) in your DV specify a copy of the original ticket, all account information, etc

2 reasons for this - becaue you can then prove the DOFD (when the court date was or due date for the ticket) and then can dispute the Fall-off date with TU.

It is unusual to have an outstanding ticket for 7 years. How do you renew your registration with an outstanding ticket?

Cobra, it's DC... I lived there for 11 years - absolutely nothing makes sense in how the DC government operates. And their parking people aren't the swiftest - I had a permit (displayed) and they ticketed me 6 times... got each one tossed. With the 5th one I filed a complaint on the parking enforcement officer - same lady wrote it each time. A week later I got the 6th by the same lady...

Almost identical info with me... DC is NUTS! I honestly want to sue the crap otut of them- i've renewed my registration at at least 3 times since 2001. Car was registered in MD- never lived there... Real,

I noticed the same thing on my credit reports today. I have no outstanding parking tickets. I feel this is a shake down to recover money lost in the worst corruption scandel in DC history. I disputed the items. I feel your concern, but I'm going wait on my investigation. If it's verified, then I will DV the CA. A PFD will be my last resort. I know these aren't mine!

Remember every state has their own laws about traffic & parking tickets. I am in Ct. and you can believe that you can not get renew tags or get a new regisistation or new tags if you owe any tickets!!!!

They even go around the big cities (I live in a small town) and tow cars that have outstanding tkts.or owe taxes!!!!

If these tkts. are past SOL or CRTP then the chances are that they do not belong to you!!!!

DV CMRRR the CA........do not fax it...that will be giving them another way to bug you!!! they get the phone # of the fax at their end.

CRTP starts at the time the tkt was issued NOT when the CA wants it to!!!!!!

You are in the same boat as me! I got a letter from the same company almost 30 days ago. You start to clean up your credit reports and BAM out of the blue here comes a **bleep** debt.

My debt is $205.00. I lived in SE for less than 6 months.. ex boyfriend owned an apt building. Big mistake, I moved from Columbia, MD to SE..LMAO.. huge shocker.. I could not move back to Howard County fast enough.

I never received any parking tickets. My D. licence was transfered to MD with no problems and I never heard from DC at all. I have my credit reports monitored found out they reported to transunion as a collection account. I promptly disputed and it was removed. I thought nothing else about it.

Then Dec.5, I receive a letter from Professional Account Management, L.L.C telling me I owe $205. I was ready to send a PFD letter, just get it behind me. The money is not the issue I just want it off my Experian credit report. I signed up with AMEX credit watch and it posted TWICE!!!

If anyone has AMEX you KNOW how they can be. I have had nothing but bad luck with my credit report late. I can't get the CAs to remove Verizon from my credit report. Even though I have a letter from Verizon stating my account with them is in good standing and now this. I am waiting for my drama with AMEX to begin.

I guess I should DV first then PFD last. Can ya'll confirm?

It's the new age ... these collection agencies buy up "debt" for pennies on the dollar then shake down the Americans with collections. Look at the industry of reporting credit scores, and how much wealth is transferred from Americans to the credit reporting agencies!

Can you clarify this statement for me? It almost looks as if you are insinuating that the CRAs havesoemthing to do with junk debt buyers...I may be wrong.
