Did you settle with the collection company did you pay it in full to the collection company or did you end up paying the original company in full yourself.

fyi sometimes a company will report your activity while your account is active then once you stop making payments they may sell / send to a collection agency to collect for them at this point they the original creditor can either report it as delinquent x amount of days or it may continue to say paid as agreed but this same account will be reported as a collection on your report. That explains to me why you think because the report says paid as agreed in september and then collection as of October 2007 as being contradictory however it is in a sense but as far as in the credit bureau reporting world it isn't. The previous comment explains both sections that are of concern to you

..so based on the pieces of information that you sent. I will say that is what happened.

I don't consider your account reaged per say because the time is within the 7 year period. and 2 years shy you will dispute it as such but for now what difference is it going to make really.

Assuming Hey Berk was directed to me?

There is no activity. It was paid in full in 2004 or 2005 to Berks.

They changed it to a collection as of October 2007 and caused major damage to my credit and my business credit possibilities.

Berks just reaged my account and I don't know why.

I paid them in 2004/2005 and now my credit report says collection as of October 2007.

I have a report from September which shows it as paid. Is that all I should be sending in to Experian? Should I be bold enough to send in the receipt from the payment in hopes that it gets them to delete the account or should I leave the receipt out and hope it gets deleted on the reaging issue based on my credit report?

Wasn't sure if sending the receipt of payment would make them just reset me back to 2005 or not.

Trying to get this removed so I can get on with my life.

Message Edited by EddieX on 12-27-2007 04:55 PM

Are you sure this was re-aged and not just a change in status? Unfortunately they can change the status to anything that was correct... but this should not change the correct balance or DOLA/DOFD dates.

And unfortunately, a change in status to something derog can change scores even if everything else remains the same.

Really it sounds like they just updated the account but I can't see what you are looking at.

Are you saying this collection no longer shows as paid with a 0 balance and/or any dates related to SOL have changed?

I think no matter what the case, since it was a derog account I would GW letter them to aim for a total deletion first since this would be the best scenario.

If they are reporting incorrectly and have denied a GW removal, then I would take it to dispute and proceed from there.

WOuldn't an update still use the same date of the collection which was March of 2005 and not October 2007. They changed the date and now it says collection as of October 2007.

Still says Paid and all that but in October they changed the collection date so now it looks like I had a collection on October which I didn't.

Can you scan pictures on here?

Either way, it looks more recent than it was.

I tried contacting them and they refuse to respond to letters and when I called and spoke with a manager, she cut me down and said they won't remove it. Even though I paid it in full.

Beginning to think I did something to someone in a past life or something...

Depends on exactly how they reported it and it can be confusing. You can cut and paste it, get rid of the account number though and don't worry about reformating any graphics.

I don't disagree with you that no matter what this does rank on the suck-o-meter.

Was thinking of putting this in the dispute

This account has been illegally reaged. I have reported this account several times and got no response. I am providing proof with a date so this can be removed from my reports. It is my report from September 18, 2007 which shows what the status was at the time as Paid and now on my current report it says Collection as of October 2007.

Am I right? Wrong? In between?

Didn't want to send the receipt from 2005 but figured it might help. But I assume it could also hurt.

Not sure on this one...

OK the dates shown do not indicate if the account has actually been re-aged. It does look like it is reporting incorrectly I totally agree... looks like the entire account was opened in October not just last updated then. If it were me, I would check the dates.

This has happened to a few people lately on the boards where a company suddenly reports a paid closed account as continuing to be charged off.

In the chance you can get it removed instead of just properly updated, I'd go for any dispute reason you felt best because I think this is unethical on the cc co's part. I don't think you need to send receipts... they know it's paid and it shows paid.

That's actually my next move.
It's only Experian.

They did it last time I disputed it too.
I got a response in 1 day and thought it was a mistake.
Guess not.
They just didn't do anything.

There is a Palisades account there too but I'm pretty sure they won't respond in time. They've been backing down a lot lately. Probably because they don't have the info on accounts.

Wish I knew before I applied for those cards.

I have to figure out Equifax too because they have old chargeoffs with different dates from EX and TU and the last one won't drop until September where TU they're gone and EX they will be in February except these two which shouldn't be there at all.

I called Equifax and they said I disputed it 3 times so I have to go to the creditor or agency. Wish I recorded that call...that's not an MOV though for that is it? They just aren't disputing.

Hey berk

Just a question you never said how you paid the account and to whom.

Hey Berk

If you try to dispute an inquiry with TU they will laugh at you and send you a stupid letter.

They use to be pushovers...i remember when.....it wasn't that way now i guess with everybody and their mothers trying to get information changed they have gotten tougher...

Good luck on MOV with EX. They have been jerks. I called and requested a MOV for a 30 day late that I was NOT late on. They said they would send in mail. All they sent in the mail was that I had already disputed the item and to contact the Creditor. I mailed them a letter back that they were in violation of the law and quoted the parts they were in violation of and quoted the part that they send to saying that they have to tell MOV and they ignore it and send crap out.

EX and EQ stink. TU, they are my heroes.

I agree with you on EX and EQ. Experian even put a fraud alert on my account and didn't tell me. I found out because Truecredit said Equifax put an alert on me. I called Equifax and they said it was Experian who caused it. They seem to only do what they want to do but not to follow what they're supposed to do. Luckily TU isn't as prehistoric but they have some issues too like inquiries.

I sent a fax to see if they react, will send by mail if they don't.

Message Edited by EddieX on 12-28-2007 07:52 AM
