I've read on the internet of monitoring software ie. Identity Guard. Can anyone tell me the best Identity theft protection site out there that I can sign up with?

My wallet had my my insurance cards, medical cards, dental cards, credit cards including my drivers licenese that has my SS# printed on it.

Please help me!

You need to cancel your cards ASAP. Most of us use www.truecredit.com for monitoring our reports. You will get alerts on any new accounts, inqs, ect.

You need to file a police report immediately. This will establish a baseline. There is a lot of info on the internet. Look.

I'm sorry this happened to you! One thing though, I thought most or all states stopped using SS#'s on state ID's and DL's. I live in Hawaii and some years ago, they replaced SS#'s with a simple ID number to deter identity theft.

After you call all of the companies, place a fraud alerts with the CRA's. This with deny any "Instant Credit"

I don't know what state you're in (as in state of residence, not state of mind ... )

1. In some states you have to specifically request a non-SSN number on your driver's license, unlike some states where, as another poster pointed out, it's automatic that they give you a random number.

2. In about half the states, you can get a credit freeze instead of just a fraud alert. You "freeze" your credit file so that no one, not even you, can get new credit in your name. If you want to "thaw" it, it takes a few days. This can be an inconvenience if you forget and you suddenly want to apply for a new card. IMHO, every state should allow this for free (some charge for freezing and/or unfreezing, although some don't charge in cases of fraud).
