Attempting first PFD

I got offered a settlement for an old account that I know is mine through Midland Credit Management. I used one of Tuscani's PFD templates and I was planning on sending it CMRRR, but I was thinking I might get a quicker repsonse through fax or email. Has anyone been succesful with this tactic? I want to get this taken care of ASAP so it's off my CR's before I apply for a loan.

I've had a chance to PFD a few times this past fall. While it has all been unsuccessful, I learned a few things along the way:

DV first. I had a CA offer a PFD in their DV response which saved me the $5 or so in CMRRRing. Also had another CA who deleted the account completely. I sent them a letter asking them to verify the amount and had a PFD response ready. They responded saying that their accounting was all wrong and apologized for bothering me. OK.
Be VERY mindful of your SOL & CRTP.
Like with DV, if your PFD fails, the CA very likely would step up collection activities.
A CA or OC doesn't have to accept a PFD.
If no response, send again and again and again.

I too used Tuscani's PFD. I had one OC see that letter (and obviously not read it) and assumed it was a dispute letter. They responded saying I cannot dispute (as per a DV). It seems like that letter had DISPUTE, like this, so I changed it to lower case. I also nixed the time requirement in my last letter; I think I would have better results without the pressure. IMHO. I also edited it for length. Kept it simple.

Also, fax is good if you save the receipt from the fax machine pointing to there and when you sent it. E-mail is good to; you automatically have a receipt, if you use a program to track when they read your e-mail.
