judgement question

I recently discovered a judgement on my credit reports that I pulled from myfico. I called the credit bureaus and was the told the judgement was from the company that I rent my house from. I am currently still renting the house. The judgement is dated from 2006 at which time I was working as a temp. I contacted the company that I rent my house from and they told me that the person there who files the judgements with the court must had already done so before I made it in to the office to make pay. The company wrote me a letter on their letterhead to give to the court and credit bureaus. The letter says that it was settled. The court told me they couldn't take it off , that it would be reported as settle. They also said that in order for them to have it deleted someone from the company would have to come up there and fill out a form that the court will fax to the credit bureau's. I then went back to the company that I rent from and asked them about it being deleted and was told that the person who collected the money no longer works there and there is nothing they could do about it, any advice?

The old "i wanna collect a paycheck for not doing anything" - just keep after them - so if the lady that collects the money left, does that mean I no linger have to pay you? I am a smart-mouth so take it with a grain of sand --- but I do like that comeback.

If there is a judgement on your CBRs... it is more likely than not that it exists. It should tell you what court, and you might be able to check the status of it online at the court's website. From what you are describing it sounds like a default judgement that is unpaid. See what you can verify in case it differs.
