WHAT?! stomping my feetcursing @EQ**

What could have happened? I just got a SW alert. Score change....I was so excited, just paid the last round of my util lowering..to 3%!!! MY SCORE DROPPED 2 POINTS!!! I checked my report from Friday..had an alert for dormant activity (whatever)...everything is identical....BUT, the balances went from 20% to 3%.....I was totally thinking another 15-20 point JUMP.!!!

I am sooo confused? I'm not thinking the 'bucket" theory, cuz we are still 5 years from BK falling off report!

Could FICO 08 have hit?! I hope?!

My heart sunk I even yelled at the kids for no real reason this a.m.,: it has put me in such a bummed mood! I am making them cookies to make up for it, but I probably ruined their school day I hate "bad mom" days!! Ohhh the guilt!!

Any suggestions....other than parenting/anger mgmt. classes?

wow! i hope that doesn't happen to me...i mean i think it's stinks that we get penalized for paying things down....i just paid a large lump on a car loan, paid off, and paid a credit card down to almost nothing...so i hope my scores don't drop...something tells me they will though.... well look at it this way, you have less that you owe now and you can only go up from here!

fish...I agree w/ you!! I swear they know I need that 680 for the mtg rate I want....so, they knock it down a few points if I go too far above it!!

I sure hope I get it back, plus my jump for hitting the low util mark!!

M.V....your're right, I forgot they will be putting 08 in place later this year...if they ever settle the lawsuit!!

I sooo wanted that to be the reason for this madness!! Now, what??!!

O.K.....now I'm convinced that all 3 CRA's know I am on the verge of getting a mtg!!! TU and EX updated my balances from the 20% util to the 3% util.......2 point increase in TU....EX stayed the same....WHAT is goin' on here, people!! I am freakin' out now.

Even DH's reports updated to show the new balances......2-4 pt increases???? Do the CRA's want us to keep our util around the 24% util rate? I am sooo confused.

We were seeing 15-30 point jumps at each util drop. Now, zilch!!!

90+% to 50% to 30% to mid 20% we saw score jumps......now...3% util.....and they all but ignored it!!

We really thought that this was going to be our best boost yet!!

Any thoughts, friends? Thanks!

I seriously think you got re-bucketed. even with a BK, people can get 700+ scores, so it stands to reason that there are buckets in the BK side of things just like the non-BK. I bet your scores will inch up over the next few months as you continue to build positive history. How close are you to your 680 goal?

hey sun, i know a way you can get a few points. i sent eq a crm letter disputing 2 ca, 1 co . all deleted. they sent me and e-mail about how the dispute was done. so i went to there web site, so it was deleted. well, i wanted a copy mailed to me, so i called them about two hours ago. well i forgot i had disputed 4 inqs. they took off 3 of them. i did make those inqs,opps, oh well. anyways my score should go up because of those inqs deleted..try it, even if you only have one..its worth a try.

orhippychic....I posted a thread about this.... thinking I was about to be re-bucketed (is that a word? oh, well you know what I mean) and one of our mods thought I wasn't anywhere near being re-bucketed! He thought it would happen the closer I got to my bk being dropped (5yrs)

And, what about DH? Him, too? This is my first real FICO let down, I have been having such great success until this weekend! The FICO gods hate me

Not just the BK but also the AGE on your accounts could have re-bucketed you... over 2 years major hurdle - over 5 another...another at 7 ETC

Thanks, Lady_Scarlet! Well, what can I expect now? I really need my scores up in 2 months!! We qualify, now....but, the best rates are what we are after!

After the re-bucket happens, I heard it is S L O W moving and an uphill struggle!! Are we doomed?

sunrise, since you have SW, is it from EQ or from FICO? I have SW from FICO, and I got this jolly announcement:

Changes to your credit report

Your FICO® score went down on a day when there were no credit alerts on your Equifax Credit Report™. This can happen if:

* You moved from one category of credit users to another as time passed. For example, you may have transitioned from the category "consumers with a new credit history" to the category "consumers with a two- to five-year credit history". The good news is that moving between categories like this usually offers you the potential to reach a higher FICO® score in the future.

This is the official announcement of re-bucketing in EQ from FICO. I don't know if you get this with the SW directly from EQ, though.

NOTHING INCREASED!! As a matter of fact EVERYTHING decreased!! And, nothing is any different today than last week other than balances paid down to 3%

What is the change on my report...shouldn't I have gotten an alert if a neg. reported?

Well, I'm nonplussed. I got both those comments, and I just edited out the one about maybe your balance increased (which it hadn't.) Gotta confess, I'm stumped!

Note: After looking again: since you subscribe to EQ instead of FICO for your SW, maybe you don't get the bucketing alerts. After all, this is a FICO phenomenon --it's not your reports, it's how you're being scored. So maybe you were re-bucketed after all?

Hmmmmm...I also have myfico SW, and have never received an alert...ever! Dunno why? I have had the SW from myfico for about a month now! I have had SW from EQ for 2 years and was going to cancel after I got it from myfico, just never did.....maybe I shouldn't cancel EQ, at least it's doin' somethin'!

What do you think now? Why me? At such a crucial point in my life? GEEEZ

Well, I'm stumped!

FWIW, my scores recovered within about 3 weeks, and then took off. If you can stall anything that you have coming up, you might be OK. It felt like an eternity at the time, but when I look back on it, it wasn't that bad! I also made sure that util was very low, only one or two cards reporting, etc.

Hauling....I have 2 months...so, I can handle the 3 weeks or so! Thanks so much for your help...I will keep you posted on this saga!

BTW...I have only 2 lines reporting 3% the others(4) are pd to 0. We'll see what happens!!
