Capital Ones deletes 3 valid/active tradelines after Amount dispute.

In order to get my correct balances after I paid off all but the last couple hundred on each of my CCs, I disputed the AMOUNTS on several of my credit cards in preparation for my mortgage app.

Everyone but Cap 1 reported the correct amount.

Cap 1 had the credit bureaus DELETE all tradelines from all 3 bureaus. My mind boggles.I've asked them to fix it and from what I understand, it should be a simple fix, but after two weeks, they just acknowledged the problem, not fixed it.

The've offered to send a letter to my creditors but that won't help.

Any thoughts?

They tell me that the people who interface with the credit bureau in Utah don't take phone calls, don't talk to customers.

Any thoughts? I need to get this taken care of...Any corporate numbers or backdoor numbers to get this moving?

Were these all perfect accounts?

Did it change your score? Are the accounts still open?

Yep, valid open accounts, in good standing, bought some dunkin donuts coffee this morning...they say it was a "system error".

Perfect account, never late, just the entire tradeline was deleted across all three credit bureaus.

Truecredit Fakos are:

TU 757 EX 765 EQ 752

Same thing happened to me!..they deleted an account that had one late that i disputed. For some reason though my credit scores either went up or didnt change when they deleted it. Have another Cap1 card will eventually merge them.

There is always a possibility that this can happen when you dispute the balance for any trade line.

I have been in a situation where my balance was high on a credit account and I paid it off. I really wanted the zero balance to reflect quickly and thought about disputing the balance. After some research I found out that if you do this you will be risking losing the account completely. Which is why it shouldn't be done if you want that account on your credit file. Now, if it was an account with several negatives then it might be a blessing in disguise.

More than likely the trade line will report back onto your credit files when Cap 1 normally updates with the bureaus.

Same thing here, DELETED. My lenders are trying to put back my info but the CRA is blocking them. The process to put back can take 2 reporting cycles. But if you are lucky and they are not blocked by the CRA it can be as soon as 10 days. Other wise it will take longer. Good luck.

PS. Find the phone number from your credit report for that bank because it usually goes directly to the credit reporting dept for that bank.

Well, interestingly enough, I sent an e-mail to the Chief Credit Office of Cap 1 today after a couple weeks of trying to get someone to fix this through regular channels. The message was read within about 5 minutes by a minion according to my return receipt that I requested (gotta love all those places using MS Outlook). Within about an hour I got a call from a lady in their exec offices. I explained the situation and she said she would be looking into it immediately. I whined again about my anemic CL as a long time customer with a perfect payment record, and high balance until recently to counteract the non-reporting of CLs. She mentioned that 2008 was going to be the "year of the customer" and that they were going to be reviewing all their current policies since this is not the first time she's heard this issue. I told her in a nice way that I wouldn't be holding my breath. We'll see if anything gets done here Kevin
