Technically they had permissiable purpose.. Inqs have very little impact. IMO, the risks of disputing (fraud alerts) are not worth it.

I had several inquiries within the past year, in fact 25 in the past 2 years. I really don't think it has a huge impact on your score personally because my credit score is still a 688. My suggestion would be to dispute what's inaccurate and just focus on getting your debt down and not adding any new inquiries for a while. How many inquiries do you have?

I disputed around 5 inquiries with EQUIFAX. They got deleted within 2-3 weeks. One of them got denied but i redisputed and they removed it. My score increased 0 points in that period by the way.

When you get shopped for a car loan they lump together the inquiries so you don't get dinged, as long as they are within specific short time frame. That's why you won't see a big drop with several inquiries for auto financing.

I had my credit pulled by (2) different dealerships for a total of 25 times (most are to the same auto financers) on different dates. I went to the dealerships with a preapproval letter in hand for my financing that clearly stated my credit need not be pulled again. I went from 726 equifax now I have a 568. Do I deal with the dealerships or each individual lender on the report to get them pulled. I told them very specificalIy I didn't want them to pull my credit although they told me they could get me a better interest rate. They did anyway and I am still financed through my own lender.

I disputed the inq just recently because when I opened my checking account they did a hard inq. They most definitely did not have permission. I would have left enough alone except I was being denied for too many inq's. Now I am really mad at the bank. Have not heard anything from Eq in 1 week. It's still new. But I did notice soft pulls regarding the event. Inq has not come off yet but I will wait 30 days before writing a mean letter to the bank demanding removal due to credit denials. How unfair.

Honest and car salesman. That is a strange combination. Sorry this happened to you. I would try to get the car dealer finance dept. to remove some of them. But in any case.. Your score drop was more than 20 points. It could not be from inquiries alone. Am I correct?

You got that right, I had my 1st late payment show up as 60 days past due which was only 30 days past. The credit card company has agreed to correct it by removing the late. So in combination w/ inquiries and a past due it would drop me that low?

It makes me sick to have even had the 30 day late.
