ConsumerInfo.com is owned by Experian, one of the three major credit reporting agencies in the United States. It in turn is owned by GUS PLC, a giant British retailer who at last report was pleased as punch at Experian's 18 percent increase in North American sales during the first quarter of 2003. A large part of that increase came from ConsumerInfo.com, which GUS Finance Director David Tyler said was one of the company's "best ever acquisitions."

Experian and the other two major credit bureaus are, of course, required to provide a free credit report to anyone who asks for one after being turned down for a credit application based on information in the report. However, as the complaints below illustrate, Experian and its subsidiary are quite skilled at getting money out of consumers who in many cases have little to spare

Yes it is alot! friendlier here. Read some post there that basically says this forums contributors are basically clueless.

There's a whole lot more diversity of opinion on CIC. Lots of things get discussed that cannot get discussed here. In terms of what I know and have learned, MyFico cannot hold a candle to CIC and CB.

I did not spend enough time to even try and formulate an opinion about the quality of info at that site. I will say, some of the posts were very unfriendly and was wondering if that is the norm there.

Stick 11K people together on one forum, some small percent who are going to post regularly, and yeah you can expect a tone to kick up now and again.

In direct response to your question, no, I don't see that as the norm. In fact, I see numerous examples of posters going outta their way to post useful info while attempting to dissuade folks of some asinine pre-conceived notion they will not abandon.

I must say there are topics over there not discussed here. Especially relating to inq's: bumping which it turns out can be dangerous and also disputing any inq's that do not have a TL attached to them.

CIC\CB and MyFICO are not one in the same.. There are many tactics on credit repair sites that while can be effective are very unethical and can get you into trouble. MyFICO forums are dedicated to learning more about scoring and improving your credit accurately, ethically, and without danger.

There are a great many things one cannot discuss here because of the rather broad description of "credit repair" held by FI legal. It's their right to do, but one is daft to believe there isn't a wealth of legal information out there that ain't allowed on MyFico.
