They are supposed to pull soft. There is no hard and fast rule as to how many points you will lose for an inquiry. It depends on what your score is now, how many inqs you already have, yada yada yada. I have had inqs and have lost 0 points. I have also had inqs and lost 6 or 7 points recently.

is it true that each time someone looks at your credit report your score drops 5 points? I had a employer pull my credit report 3 times, how do I get these points back?

I don't think employment inquiries hurt. I'm sure someone else will chime in soon to verify.

It depends on whether it was a "soft pull" or "hard pull". If its a hard pull, it will drop your score. Why did they need to pull it 3 times? That seems excessive ...

If it was a hard pull, it will take 12 months for the inquiry to fall off.

Have you ordered a copy of your reports to see if they're reporting ??

One will say these inquiries are seen by everyone who receives a copy of your credit report or something to that affect............those are hard inquiries.

Another will say "these inquiries are only seen by you and do not affect your credit score" or something like that.
