Sallie Mae - 6 year old late pay - correctable?

Hi all. I've lurked on this board for sometime and found the advice to be very useful. I've been working on getting my scores higher for some time and have had some success, but also a lot of frustration. As far as I can tell I have 1 set of items that still haunts my scores.

I had 6 loans through Sallie Mae that I let slip in to late pay. This occurred in late 01 to early 02, they became 6 months of '120 late'. I then compiled those loans into a US D of E loan which I have never been late on (6 years).

So how do I clean up my ONLY late pays? The first late was Sep 01 so my assumption (from what I've read online) is that later this year the first 'late' should come off. Yes? I searched the forum and found a few posts about Sallie but no definitive answers to if GW letters help. If anyone has any tips please feel free to share.

Hopefully you are working on getting your scores HIGHER not lower

I would leave them alone- They should either be deleted or lates removed this year. These old lates are hurting/but not very much.

You can always try a GW letter or dispute th items as "paid, never late" with the CRA's.

I have GW'd Sallie Mae 3 times my lates are from 04 and had no luck. They state that they must report correct info on your CR so if you are truly late they stay on. GL
