Should I believe this?

I have now been told by two seperate lenders that they do a SOFT pull to see if I am pre-qualified. I don't know if I believe them. Any thoughts?

Sounds like they are telling you what you want to hear - every pull I make shows up as a hard inquiry on the report -

I cant speak for all banks but this sounds fishy to me

I had a lender who told me they did a soft pull. The next day I got a score watch alert for the inquiry. But it is listed as an inquiry that won't impact my score so, a soft pull. Can I ask which lenders are you talking about?

I have always seen it as a hard pull, even with a PQ, not a soft.
