topic ANY NEW YORK HOMEBUYERS OUT THERE? in Mortgage Loans

Hello All,

While DH and I are not planning on purchasing our home until 2018, I was just curious to know if there are any New Yorkers out there who are currently in the process of buying or new owners and what bank/mortgage company you used along with realtors and what your experience was like.

I know I can use a lender pretty much anywhere and doesn't have to be here in NY but I guess I would just like to know what the process was like and if there were any assistance programs that were available to NY residents as well as just your overall process and experience, especially if you went into an actual office and met with a LO in person.

I've been doing as much research as possible on the internet as well as coming here and reading on this forum. I have gathered so much information. I just want to be as prepared as one could possibly be. The only reason we are waiting until 2018 is to continue to save as much money as we possibly can and also to let the remaining negatives drop off (which will happen this year and 2017). Also, we want to pay off our car loan before we actually apply so that it's not included in our dti. We want to qualify for every last penny we possibly could.

Thanks in advance for your replies.
