Removing Dispute Comments/Remarks from Experian

Hi Everyone - Hoping to find some solid answers

i am trying to get the "Account in Dispute" remarks removed from 2 collections accounts i had disputed (didnt know about them) a couple months ago. I disputed, they came back saying they belong to me, and i need the remarks removed ASAP because i am trying to apply for a mortgage loan. i have about 2 weeks max to get this done.

here is the runaround:

1. I called TU last week and also faxed a letter - followed up today and all remarks are off (yay!)

2. Called EQ on Friday and they said it should take 72 hours to remove - i will follow up on Weds.

3. Experian is NOT so easy! i called - they said it will take 30 days. My loan officer did rapid rescore on each tradeline and they came back saying they cant remove the disputes and i need to obtain a letter from the CREDITOR to remove the disputed status.

so, i call the first creditor (ACB receivables) and they say they didnt put the comment there, they cant remove it. i call the second creditor (A1 collections) they say they will only remove it if i pay in full and if i do they will have it deleted in 3-5 days (pay for delete).

does anyone have any RECENT experience getting these comments or remarks off your EX report? i have rea many forums but their process seems to always be changing.

please help!

Wow 30- days seems excessive -

No other way that I am aware of - in the past it has been just a few days for all three - Experian has always played by their own rules though

Can someone post the phone number to call Experian to get dispute comments removed? I've tried call their 1888 EXPERIAN number and the automated menu does not allow me to get through to a live person....help!

Call 714-830-7000. A real person answers the phone. Ask for the Executive Customer Service team to end the dispute. They're available from 8A-5P PST.

Thank you so much! I was able to get 2 removed within 24-72 hours and 1 has to be "investigated" and updated within 30 days.... Thanks again

Hello. Can you please tell me if your score increased or decreased due to the disputed comments being removed? I just had one removed and waiting for my credit score update which is not til the end of the month. Thank you!

Depends on whether the dispute is active or closed. If the dispute is active and you remove it, your score could take a hit because you are currently being scored without that account taken into consideration. Once the comment is removed, the dispute is ended, and you will be scored with that account in the mix.

If it is a closed dispute, that account is already being used in your scoring anyway. Theoretically it shouldnt impact your score. My score did go down 7 points right after I had 3 closed dispute comments removed... but honestly, it could have been due to other factors.

At least that is my understanding... one of the experts around here might say differently.
