Under contract, new collection calls, HELP!

Hi,

I got a call today about a collection by JHPDE Finance I, LLC that is serviced by D&A services. I know the debt is valid and is the last thing I had from my divorce, it had gone away and I forgot about it. Now that I'm buying a house it has come out of the woodwork. It's not on my credit yet, and I have the cash to pay in full today. I asked about paying to keep it from reporting, but D&A services said they can't offer a guarantee it won't be reported by jhpde. Does anyone have any experience with these guys? I don't want anything to mess with closing if I can help it. Thanks!

How old is the debt and what are the statute of limitations in your state? If the debt was on your credit report and now it's not, it is highly possible that it's too old of an account for them to report.

Thank you for replying. It's a citicard debt that has a last payment in 6/2017. I tried to pay it before it went to collection, but citi said no. It was on my report as a charge off for about a year then it's been gone since then. I haven't been contacted by any collectors about it until now. I'm pretty sure it's still within the SOL for my state.

It is still within the reporting timeline too, but I would pay it if you can. I know some people will try to get them to commit to not report before you pay but I think it is better to just pay and hope it doesn't report. It will be better to report a 0 balance than if they report it for the full balance.
