I closed on a HELOC with Hancock Whitney bank in Texas this past Friday. I was approved for $43k. They currently have a 2.99% 6 month promo rate. After that it will be 9.7% (Prime + 1.2%).

I applied 5 weeks ago; they pulled Equifax. I've misplaced the original letter but it was somehow about 835. I know mortgage loans often use different scoring algorithms, my 'regular' Equifax score is around 770.

My original plan was to take advantage of the promo period and put my equity in a high-yield savings account/CD. I'd get about $400 doing that; not too shabby in exchange for a hard pull. Instead, I'll chase a few bank savings bonuses and get more bang out of this. I'll try to provide updates on my plan going forward.
