Someone talk me down please!

Ok so my DH credit is now clean! Nothing reporting (knocking on wood) besides the bank we use and a cc with a 250 limit and 0 balance. We just put a house under contract and I want stuff! I want a new vacuum, new beds for the whole family, new carpet in the new house, I want the whole thing painted, ohhh and I could use a new car too! Please someone tell me I am just dreaming, and remind me my DH will probably have a stroke if all of these things begin to magically appear. ohhhhh I can buy the vacuum I have been eyeing it up for like 7 months, and I work hard I deserve it! ohhh Where is Suze Orman? ohhhhh

Think of all the work you and your spouse put into getting your credit where you want it to be and that beautiful dream house. You can always wait until you close on your home and make a project list based on needs then wants. You are almost there be brave I know how it feels I feel the same way. CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE MADE IT!!!!!!!!

SuzyStellar - wait until AFTER you have closed and have the keys in hand. THEN go shopping!! BUT keep in mind, inspectors miss things, things break down right after closing, stuff happens.

You have no idea how many times I've seen people start buying furniture like crazy and then even new cars and it screws up the whole process.

You want a financial nightmare on your hands: Buy all those things you wanted RIGHT NOW.

Please do yourself a HUGE favor, wait until closing, wait til you have the keys and you are starting to move in.

What's the point of fixing your credit if you are going to put yourself in a stellar position to screw it up all over again?

I can't think of a good reason to accumulate even more debt immediately following a new mortgage. At least make a few payments and see what your actual budget is.

also remember that your going to be living in this house for years to come. As I tell my wife that is similar with wanting to house renovations, everything in moderation. Rome wasnt built in a day, dont get yourself in a bind with credit and buying things. As long as you have the essentials, everything else can come with time.

Of course that made my honey do list like 5 years long. LOL

Wait until you close. I went through the same thing a couple months ago. We had to buy new appliances for the home. It was incredibly difficult passing on really good sales until we closed but you don't want to risk losing the home. Go easy after you do close. As mentioned things will pop up that the inspector missed or couldn't have caught or go bad after moving in. We've replaced toilets and am doing the water heater tommorrow. Don't max yourself out and put yourself in a bad position. I desperately need a new card but it's going to have to wait until next year when we pay off the furniture and Lowes.
