old discharged judgement???

My wife and I filed chp 7 in 2006 and a debt included was a car note that had 3 open judgements apiece on us. All of them have been closed out via the courthouse (none show on credit report) but 1 on her. We have our discharge and creditor matrix with them listed. I have sent this to the court but they still haven't closed it. Will this documentation be enough when our title company does their search. We have called our attorney and he wrote a letter stating the judgement isn't valid. Any experience or insight would make me sleep much better!!!!

I may be mistaken, but I believe you need to have the judgment vacated, as discharge of the underlying debt doesn't automatically vacate the judgment.

Try searching the credit forum for more info.

Can you clarify what this means ? Were the judgements vacated or marked as satisfied ? In order for the judgements to be taken off your credit reports I believe they would have to be vacated.

onlyone of them ever showed on our reports. I disputed them as being included in our bk and equifax removed them. they never showed on tu or ex. 1 remains in open status with the county though the debt was discharged in 2006.

just an update for anyone else in this situation. After a visit in person to the court house yet again I was able to get the last case closed. Had that not happened I did contact a title company and they said had a discharged jg popped up on us they would have requested the bk papers, and their attorney would review and accept or deny. She said this is more common than people think. She said after a bk many judgements remain open due to the fact most people don't follow up unless it is on a cr. when it rears it's ugly head in a sale or purchase they deal with it behind the scenes. She went on to say as long as they make a notation that the jg/lien was discharged and not able to attach they will insure title. Either way I am glad it's gone!!

Bumping this up...I have a civil judgement that was filed before we filed BK in 2010 and was included in our BK. My CR on MyFico has the type listed as: "Civil judgement in bankruptcy". Is this correct? Wondering if there's any way to get rid of it...kind of frustrated that our BK attorney told us not to worry about it.
