Hello I am trying to buy a house before Dec.2009

I had my credit report pulled to assess my situation;

And I found that I had 3 medical collections.

Here are my two different situations:

1. I one have a collection that I have no idea what it is; its for $320 dollars.

2. I have two collections form the same CA; One I do recognize for $465.00; Another that they have appeared to put on there with a different account number, so that it would be two inquiries; they listed that at $423.00 and they listed the other $33.00 on my husband's credit report.

I would like help with both situations; But the plot thickens;

For the second situation; they have recently sent me a settlement letter saying that original creditor would accept 60% of the original amount; Now I don't know what to do because if I pay it will stay on there and leave a bad mark on my credit report; I was thinking I would send that I would pay the settlement amount if they remove the listing from my credit report; But, I have read "pay for delete" doesn't usually get accepted by the CA. And if I do attempt a pay for delete will it remove all of the listings they put on my and my husband's reports

So long story short, I'm confused and not sure how to proceed with the above situations. they want a reponse in 14 days

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Another thing can you explain the the abbrevaitions like sending a letter RR or CMRRR.

Also, will opting out affect getting your credit report pulled to apply for a mortgage?

A couple things to keep in mind:

1. if you pay the CA your credit score will not do any better,the status will be updated to a Paid Collection and it does nothing for your score. I am pretty sure you have a good chance doing a PFD with a CA. I have done PFD with CA's before and it worked, but get it in writing. dont' take their word for it.

2.where did you read a PFD doesn't work with a CA? This can be negotiated. the CA wants their money and you in turn want it off of your report. I did pay the CA 100% to have it removed...it's worth it for your credit, esp. you don't want it lingering around mortgage time.

If you can afford to pay these med collections in full, I recommend you use the HIPAA letter process. Please read this link in my sig line.

no, but i plan on following the process, asap; as for the one with the settlement offer for a paid in full; i want to accept it, but if i accept it and i pay it to the OC instead of the CA, can i still use the process because, the offer is void in 7 days and it states that their "client" is the one extending the offer. any advice would be great.

thanks
