I Really Really Need Your Help Should I pay oc if they accept and are local?

I want to use the HIPAA process and I need your help. I have a $57 collection with a collection agcy. I contacted the original creditor and found that they are local and I can go into their office and pay them directly and they will give me a receipt. The balance with them is slightly higher at $75 but it doesn't matter to me. My questions are:

1. After I get the receipt should I write the original creditor asking them to remove the item from my credit? Or will they contact the collection agency for me telling them to remove it?

2. Will this speed up the hipaa process because they accepted my payment?

Or better yet what should I do next. I really need help because I plan to pay the balance tonight. So can someone guide me from this point on getting it removed from my Experian file.

Who is local the OC or the CA? If it is the CA then NO...You need to make payment to the OC and the amount that you pay is the amount that the OC has not the CA. Always use the restrictive endorsement when making payment.

The HIPAA process must be followed from the beginning including all steps. Contact with a CA may cause you to lose HIPAA protection.

The oc is local...I said this in my original post. I can just go to their facility and pay. I would like to know if I should send the Hipaa letter after I pay or what process should be followed. I really need help.

Use the restrictive endorsement on the check and pay them! I would start the process (Opt-out) tonight. Then wait until they cash the check to go to the next step (dispute)

The restrictive endorsement keeps them from turning it over to the CA.

first Opt- out. Then file the HIPAA dispute AFTER they cash the check. If the reporting is deleted from all CRAs then you are done.

You have to wait until you receive notification from the CRAs that the dispute is completed.

I opted out...I am paying the OC tonight using a personal check with restrictive endorsement...Or if I use cash would a reciept from the OC be proof that they accepted payment.? After that I should send the HIPAA letter to the OC with their reciept or with a proof that the funds were withdrawn from my account?

I disputed the account last Aug. with Experian and it's the only place the collection is showing.

I would never use cash. It is very easy to lose that receipt.

Follow the process from the beginning!!!

Opt out then file HIPAA dispute after they cash the check.........wait until the disputes are completed!!

you will be done if they are deleted.

Ok..I paid the OC with a cashiers check and put my name address account number and put the statement on back that the OC can only cash it. They gave me a receipt in the name of the OC and the balance is paid in full. I made a copy of the front and back of the check I gave the OC. Now what? should I send the Hippa letter to the compliance office for the OC now or wait a few days for the check to clear even though the OC gave me a receipt?

What should I do. I need the collection removed within 45 days and what are my chances based on your experiences?

Handwrite the HIPAA dispute letter mail it to the CRA reporting.

There is no way of knowing how long it takes. The CRA has 30 days from the date signed for, to complete it.

Either go into or call the OC and ask them to pull the debt from the CA. See what they say.
