IIRC, when you call the toll free number, you are offered information whereby you can write in and request either a longer term or permanent Opt Out option.

What I find so interesting with these offers is that I get flooded with pre-approvals and there is nothing I can/want to do with them. Recently the bank where I have my business account told me that I was pre-approved for a credit card and I ask if they had to pull my credit for the business credit card. Explained to the officer that my score was low 500's,they seemed to indicate that my personal credit would not matter,so I went along with the charade and tried to forget it. Sure enough they turned me down since I currently have some medical collection to clear up. What do they look on to determine my pre-approved status? How do I get my business to have its own history when its so linked to mine? Have a good one folks

Message Edited by SirMKnight on 03-11-2007 08:51 AM

Basically if your business is a sole proprietorship you will have to have a personal guarantee. I understand your predicament as I fileed bankruptcy in 2000 and even though my scores are right at 700 and above on TU and EX (660 EQ) I still cannot get business credit simply because of an old BK. Good luck.

It took 2 months for me to finally stop receiving credit card offers in my home mail (happened 10-15 times PER WEEK), but now I receive NONE.

You can make a single phone call to a number established by the credit reporting industry. This number is:

1-888-5-OPT-OUT (1-888-567-8688)

When you call this number, you may request to have your name and address removed from national credit bureau lists that are sold to the credit industry. The three national credit reporting agencies-- Experian (formerly TRW), Trans Union, and Equifax-- will remove your name for a two-year period from any list provided to others relating to any potential consumer credit transaction that you did not initiate. You will have to provide some personal information and follow the directions you receive from a prerecorded message. If you follow these directions, your name should be removed from these lists within five business days.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I wonder how many forests have to be cut down to sustain this steady stream of paper spam. If any of them ever come with return postage prepaid, I'm gonna tape the envelope to a chunk of lead and write on it in Magic Marker, "Take Me OFF Your Mailing List!" and send it back.
