Possible false alert

I got an email today from myfico.com that said my fico score had decrease but when I log into score history it says my score is unchanged. Whats that about?

I've referred this to our tech team. It looks like you received one alert saying your score had increased, then an alert saying it had stayed the same -- but with a lower score shown on the second alert. Also, you may want to turn your "target score" alert setting on. Then set it to your most recent score. This way you should receive an alert the next time your score changes, either up or down. We've added a free report so you can be sure to have your current score to set it to.

I've had a similar thing happened. I got a score alert that my score had gone up, but when I logged in there's an alert saying it went down. I'm confused?

There were some technical issues with Score Watch alerts in previous weeks that have since been resolved. We've added an additional free Equifax report to your subscription. Our apologies for the confusion.

Hate to say this, but I think the technical issues are back...

My Score Alert e-mail from yesterday said my FICO score has increased. When I logged into Score Watch, it said "Alert: your FICO score has dropped below your target score of 758." Below that, it says "Your FICO score has gone up to 797 on March 4th." I don't think I could have possibly gotten 40 points in one month.

I'm afraid you might be right. Seems like I'm seeing more of these lately. I'll see what I can find out.

In the mean time, a free report has been added to your subscription so you can reset your target score to your current one.

And I thought it only happened to me!!! LOL! My score went up (YAY) but I have been scared to celebrate too hard because the very next day, I received an email alert saying that a balance increased and my score went down. When I logged into scorewatch I could not find the alert or decreased score or anything!?? It was very confusing!! Not trying to get any freebies, my trial is over anyway - which by the way I hope I cancelled the correct way via email as I dont want to get in debt trying to pay off a monitoring service - which is helping to do the complete opposite!!

Well, curiosity got the better of me and I pulled my reports. I guess mine might not have been a false alert after all. My EQ FICO says 797 and my transunion says 793. I pulled it from transunioncs.com, in case there was a glitch here. Seems almost impossible that I could get that many points in one month, but it doesn't appear to be a Score Watch mistake (other than the typo in the notice saying my score had gone down. It did have the proper score below that). So, Barry, please take back the free report from my account and sorry for the trouble.

I'm a little afraid to celebrate yet. If my score goes up again this month after I pay another CC down to 7%, then I'll get excited.

Score Watch seems to be back to normal. The alert I got today said my score increased, which it did.

Hello all I am confused and not sure i want to waste the money.... got a score watch alert telling me on 2/26/2010 i got an increase to my score...... today got an alert that i got a decrease in my score.... no reason given for decrease? and back to original score it was pre 2/26/2010???? Anyone else have this happen?

urgh! I am having a similiar problem. I got a score alert on the 13th saying that my score increased to a 645. Yay, I was so excited. I recently disputed a bunch of information on my report and today I got a letter from transunion saying that I had several items removed so I purchased an experian and transunion report because I wanted to look over everything. My score is not 645! In fact, according to the report I ordered today it went down to below what it was when I started out. How can in change so much in five days unless the score alert was just false? I am reallky upset, boo! this whole ordeal makes me want to cancel my subscription and just give up.

Make sure you compare apples to apples. Ignore TransUnion and Experian...those aren't related to ScoreWatch. Did you purchase a new Equifax FICO report today too? Also, just because something changes on TU or EX, doesn't mean that it'll change on EQ too.

I'm sorry, I mistakenly put that I got an experian report today, however, it was my equifax. So if it doesn't have anything to do with score watch then what scores does score watch send you alerts on?

It monitors EQ. Ignore anything that TU or EX reports when comparing EQ.

If it was off TU, could it still be on EQ?

Disputes can really whack out your scores. Did the dispute conclude within the past few days? Was anything removed from that dispute? Disputing some OC accounts, even if bad, can result in a score drop if removed. YMMV based on how it's reporting.

Yes, the dispute concluded around the 10th. Several items were deleted, 6 actually. So when I recieved the score alert on the 13th, I assumed it was based off the items being removed. I was just so excited. Now today, only 5 days later, it went down by 42 points.
